Summer is now in full swing and for many South Africans, this means long lazy days, cooling down in the pool with a glass of rosé in hand and day drinking without a care in the world. December is without a doubt Rosé month (As it's when I consume the most Rosé humanly possible).

These are my Top 10 most "SMASHABLE" South Africa Rosés, that you and your loved ones should be enjoying this summer, 100 % Wine Fox approved (in no particular order).

~ Black Elephant Vintners

Region: Franschhoek

Tasting notes: Pale pink in colour with aromas of raspberry, strawberry, watermelon, cotton candy and citrus. The palate is crisp and bursting with flavours of summer fruits, finishing with a distinctive, savoury minerality.

10. Tread lightly Rosé

Origin: Stellenbosch

Cultivar: 85% Pinotage 15% Other

Tasting Notes: Red fruit aromas of raspberry and strawberry give way to a hint of fresh rose petals. Lightly tinted from red grape skins, this pale rosé is delicately fruity and juicy on the palate. Low in tannins, it exhibits flavours of watermelon, strawberry and rose-hip.

11 . Rosé 2020

~ Eikendal


Origin: Stellenbosch

Cultivar: Merlot 64%, Grenache 22%, Cinsault 8%, Mourvedre 6%

Tasting Notes: The Eikendal Rosé 2020 with its charming light pink hue has delightful rose petal, fresh strawberries and raspberry tart flavours on the nose, that follows through to the palate. The wine has a full mouth-feel, with an understated acidity, and a long, pleasing finish.
